What is Verrutop?

Verrutop is a new medication designed to treat verruca’s and warts. It utilizes a Nitrizinc complex that is applied directly to the affected area. By drying up and desiccating the lesions, Verrutop promotes cell death, ultimately leading to the reduction and removal of the verruca.

Who Can Benefit from Verrutop?

Verrutop is a minimally invasive and often painless treatment, making it suitable for individuals of all ages, from young children to adults. The ideal candidates for this treatment are those who wish to eliminate small verruca’s, such as those raised on the tops of toes, under the feet and warts on the fingers and hands. These smaller lesions tend to be the most responsive to Verrutop treatment.

What Does Verrutop Involve?

A podiatrist will conduct a thorough examination of the lesion, including visual inspection and a review of your medical history. If Verrutop is deemed the best course of treatment, the process can begin on the same day. Initially, the podiatrist will reduce the overlying hard skin using a scalpel, which is usually painless and may cause minor bleeding, however this is very common. After this, the Verrutop solution is applied several times and left to dry. This process is typically painless, but some individuals may experience a mild stinging or burning sensation that subsides within a day.

How Effective is Verrutop?

According to clinical trial results, Verrutop has an efficacy rate of 90% following six applications. While this is an impressive statistic, it’s essential to note that there is no guarantee of complete clearance, as is the case with any verruca treatment.

What Are the Benefits of Verrutop?

• Quick and usually painless treatment
• No down time after treatment
• Patients can return to normal activities shortly after treatment
• Eliminates the risk of spreading verruca’s to others

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Verrutop Treatment Painful During or After Application?

Pain associated with Verrutop treatment is rare. Clinical studies and anecdotal evidence from podiatrists and patients suggest minimal discomfort in most cases, with the product being generally well-tolerated.

The number of treatments required for wart clearance can vary based on factors such as the age and size of the wart, as well as the patient’s age and medical history. On average, about 3 treatments are needed to clear a wart, with some responding after the first treatment while others may require up to 5 or 6 sessions. In most cases, we do not continue treatment if a wart has not detached after 6 sessions.

No dressings are required after applying Verrutop, and it does not disrupt daily activities.

Washing and showering do not affect the effectiveness of Verrutop, although prolonged baths should be avoided to prevent rehydration of the treated area which may counter the desiccating effects of the treatment.

Patients are advised to refrain from long, hot baths between treatments. Additionally, patients can enhance the desiccation process by applying surgical spirit to the treated area twice daily between clinic visits.
